2022 Ososo Carnival BonFire Night, Overzealous Person took my Position, says Agbaje

The 2022 edition of the Ososo Carnival BonFire Night has been described as an unusual experience brought about by an overzealous element.

Chairman of the Ososo Carnival and member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Honorable Emmanuel Agbaje made the remark in his opening speech at the carnival and blazing of the fire at the Ikokoro Hilltop, Ososo.

He expressed delight that the bonfire night was peaceful and memorable despite the overzealous act of an unidentified individual trying to take his position as chairman of the carnival.

According to Agbaje, “I welcome you all to the 2022 edition of the Ososo Carnival Bonfire Night. I appreciate God for his protection over us all and preservation of the Ososo Carnival. Sustaining the carnival isn’t a child’s play as so much money is required to put it together yearly.

Ososo Carnival 2022 is bigger and international as we have the presence of the Abuja and Lagos States ministries of culture, and a delegate of the Sierra Leone  ministry of culture.

We do not know an overzealous person who light up the firewoods but I believe that the person ran out of patience.

However, by the power vested on me as the Chairman of the Ososo Carnival I hereby declare this year’s carnival open. Please, enjoy the rest of the night.

The bonfire night had different delegations from different States of the federation in attendance. The delegates arrived at the venue as early as 8pm dancing and singing to the Dj Vick’s beautiful mix.

Akoko Edo newspaper reporter at the event spoke to some participants on their impression of the all night jig.

Don and Bose, participants from Igarra and Okpe respectively said that it was their first time and that they came because of the news that Ososo Carnival is one of the best in the State and look forward to make friends while enjoying the event. Another non indigene who preferred to be anonymous said though this was also his first time, he was not at all disappointed.

Participants at the bonfire night condemned in strong terms the unidentified overzealous person who unofficially lit the bonfire light, a role exclusively reserved for the Chairman of the Carnival Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje. This is pure sabotage, they reasoned.

The bonfire night had the presence of Honorable Taiwo Akinlere and Honorable Aslem Agbabi, members of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Moses Ajayi, president Ososo Carnival, Mr. Kolade Asena, member BOT Ososo Carnival and others dignitaries.
