661,783 PVCs remain uncollected in Edo, says INEC

Edo: The Independent National Electoral Commission, said 661,783 old and new Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were still pending collection in the state as of December 31, 2022.

This was disclosed in the PVC daily report analysis that newsmen in Benin had access to on Monday, according to Timidi Wariowie, Head of Voter Education and Publicity at the Edo INEC office.

According to Wariowei, as of December 31, 2022, 409,832 of the total were old PVCs that had not been collected and 251,951 were new cards that had not been collected.

“There were 425,239 old PVCs that had not yet been collected, but 15,407 had, leaving a balance of 409,832.

“In addition, 289,931 new PVCs were received, but only 37,980 of those had been collected, leaving a balance of 251,95,” he stated.

Wariowei also revealed that 460 PVCs were gathered on January 1st throughout the state’s local government districts.

He claims that the PVC collection process is still carried out every day, including Saturdays and Sundays (aside from public holidays) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at INEC offices located throughout the 18 LGAs.
