Commissioner of Police (CP) Monday Agbonika officially took office as the 50th Commissioner of Police for Edo State on Tuesday, succeeding CP Betty Otimenyin, who has been redeployed to Force Headquarters in Abuja. The announcement was made in a statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu.
Upon assuming his new role, CP Agbonika immediately appealed to the residents and stakeholders of Edo State for their unwavering support and cooperation. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the police force, the government, and the general public in fostering a climate of peace, stability, and robust community engagement.

“CP Agbonika has appealed for cooperation from the government and residents of the state to ensure peace, stability, and improved community engagement,” stated CSP Yamu.
According to the statement, CP Agbonika brings with him an impressive 33 years of diverse policing experience. His extensive career encompasses key areas such as operations, investigations, public relations, administration, and even international peacekeeping missions.
“CP Agbonika is a seasoned officer whose track record in promoting police-community partnership is well documented,” CSP Yamu further elaborated, highlighting the new commissioner’s commitment to building strong relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. The Edo State Police Command under CP Agbonika is expected to focus on strengthening these partnerships to address crime and maintain order effectively.
