Barrister Dele Ayeni Begins Final Journey Home

The Ugbedu Families of Ososo have announced the commencement of the burial rites of their late father, Grandfather, Uncle and brother, Barrister Bamidele Stephen Ayeni.

The Burial programme released to Akoko Edo Newspaper at the weekend stated that the funeral rites will commence with a service of songs at RCCG Holiness Zonal Headquarters, 2/4 White Disu Street off Olusola Ade Street, St. Saviour Bus Stop Ikotun Ijegun Road, Lagos, on Friday, June 14, 2024.

On Thursday June 20th, there will be a wake-keep at Barrister (AP) Ayeni’s compound at Ogori Road, Ososo.  This will be followed on Friday, June 21st, by a funeral service that will be held in his honour at RCCG Ark of God Zonal Headquarters, Ososo.  Reception follows immediately at Gordon Motel, Ososo.

The programme of events was jointly signed on behalf of the families by Mrs. Pat Olayiwola, Pastor Ayeni Tanimowo, and Mrs. Angela Omidiya.

Since the announcement of the transition of Barrister Dele Ayeni, messages of tributes and condolences have continued to pour in from friends, relations and well-wishers. Retired Banker and relation of the deceased, Mr. Felix Bello wrote, ‘’ …Your legacy of generosity and humour lives on. You were a man who valued character over position; whose presence was commanding yet never fully acknowledging the extent of the profound admiration and respect you inspired. Today, we honour and remember a remarkable man whose influence remains a comforting presence in our lives. Though we miss you dearly, we take solace in knowing that your soul rests in perfect peace.

Retired Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr. Friday Aiyebelehin, wrote, “May Barr Dele Ayeni’s soul rest in peace in Jesus’ powerful name. It is a great loss to his family, Ososo and Nigeria as a whole. Wesakoh Barr Dele Ayeni.’’ From Benny Ojisua in Canada: ‘’ Its just shocking to me. What can I say?  May God give strength and fortitude to those he left behind to bear the loss, and may his soul rest in peace.’’ Barr Godson Hayioye, Legislative aide to Senator Adams Oshiomole, wrote: ‘’May his gentle soul find peaceful rest in the bosom of God Almighty and may God grant the family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable lost’’

Childhood friend and longtime acquaintance, Eric Ologun summed it all up in the tribute, ‘’ Hmm! Dele is gone. Dele Ayeni is dead!! A great fall. The greatest fall that ever fell (Shakespeare)!!! We had a long-standing Ondo connection where we were born. I say goodnight. Not good bye. For we shall surely meet on the resurrection day. Sleep on  good brother and friend till we meet to part no more. My condolences to the immediate family, including bros Bisi and Felix Bello.
