COVID-19 vaccination: Edo Primary Healthcare Agency intensifies vaccination across LGAs

Edo State is making headlines as the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) kicks off an ambitious COVID-19 vaccination campaign, implementing the SCALES 3.0 strategy.

With the goal of accelerating COVID-19 vaccinations and routine immunizations, the SCALES 3.0 program is bringing vaccines directly to people’s doorsteps, workplaces, and public spaces, ensuring convenient access for all.

To further drive awareness and participation, health educators in various local government areas have launched an integrated advocacy and sensitization program, urging Edo residents to get vaccinated and curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus disease in the state.

Mrs. Irene Uabor, the State Health Education Officer of EDSPHCDA, called upon Health Education Officers to ramp up their efforts in advocating for COVID-19 vaccination, routine immunization, and primary health care services.

During a forum with Health Education Officers (HEOs), Mrs. Uabor emphasized the importance of complete vaccination and encouraged the targeted population to receive the necessary doses, including booster shots, to enhance immunity against the virus.

Reiterating the safety, effectiveness, and cost-free nature of the COVID-19 vaccines, Mrs. Uabor dispelled misconceptions and urged the public to take advantage of the millions who have already been vaccinated.

Highlighting the upgrades from SCALES 2.0, the evidence-based SCALES 3.0 strategy aims to address implementation gaps, enhance accountability, strengthen electronic data reporting, and generate robust demand for vaccinations at all levels.

Mrs. Uabor called on eligible members of the public, with a waiver for international travel for those between 12 to 16 years old, to join the vaccination drive, emphasizing its crucial role in preventing the further spread of the virus.

Edo State’s bold and comprehensive approach to COVID-19 vaccination with SCALES 3.0 marks a significant step forward in the fight against the pandemic, ensuring vaccines reach every corner of the state.
