Dennis Idahosa Emerges APC Flagbearer in Edo State Governorship Primaries

In a thrilling turn of events, Dennis Idahosa, a member of the House of Representatives, clinched victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election held in Edo State on Saturday. With an impressive total of 40,483 votes, he secured the coveted position as the APC candidate for the upcoming September 21 governorship election in the state.

The announcement of the results was made by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as the chairman of the APC primary election committee.

Governor Uzodimma confirmed that Idahosa emerged as the party’s candidate by garnering the highest number of votes among the nine aspirants vying for the position.

Governor Uzodimma addressed a mix-up regarding the location of the committee’s secretariat, clarifying that the Protea Hotel, not the previously mentioned Lushville Hotel, served as the authentic secretariat for the proceedings.

Before Idahosa’s victory, three of the 12 governorship aspirants who had been screened and cleared by a committee established by the APC National Working Committee decided to withdraw from the race. Among the withdrawn aspirants were Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Ernest Umakhihe, and former Deputy Governor of Edo State Lucky Imasuen.
