Doctor Injects Cab Driver to Death, Arrest by Edo Police

The Edo State Police Command made a stunning revelation on Wednesday as they paraded a medical doctor, Abass Adebowale, for the alleged murder of cab driver Emmanuel Agbovinuere in the Benin City area.

Following the heinous act, Adebowale reportedly disposed of Agbovinuere’s body in a bush before stealing the victim’s Toyota Voltron car. He then fled with the stolen vehicle to Osogbo in Osun State, where law enforcement agents apprehended him.

Speaking to the media at the police headquarters in Benin City, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, disclosed that Adebowale, a graduate of the University of Ilorin and a medical officer at Kaiama General Hospital in Kwara State, was taken into custody for the reprehensible crime.

Nwabuzor narrated, “The suspect and the victim first crossed paths in July at a hotel in Benin, starting a relationship. On September 4, the suspect came back to Benin, meeting the victim at the same hotel. Acting as a customer, he accompanied the cab driver for his business rounds. The driver complained of leg pain, and the doctor, as a supposed remedy, administered poisonous substances that led to instant death. To cover up the crime, he left the victim’s body in the stolen car, eventually discarding it in Oluku, Edo State.”

Upon receiving intel, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit swiftly made the arrest in Osogbo, where Adebowale was found with the deceased’s vehicle. During the public disclosure, Adebowale expressed remorse, stating, “The outcome was not intentional, and I seek forgiveness from the family.”

The late Agbovinuere is survived by his wife, Mary, and two children, leaving a devastating impact on his loved ones. The Osun State Police Command also confirmed the arrest in a statement, shedding light on the unsettling circumstances surrounding the incident and the suspect’s subsequent capture.
