Edo Communities Hail Obaseki’s Oil Palm Plantation Initiative
The host communities of an oil palm plantation in Owan, Edo State, have expressed their gratitude to Governor Godwin Obaseki for setting up the project in their area. Traditional leaders and residents have reaffirmed their support for the project, dismissing claims of a lawsuit against its location.
HRH J.E Okanigbuan Oraekpen II, the Oje of Ora, stated that the project will boost economic activities and bring development closer to the community. He emphasized that the community was consulted and agreements reached before the project’s commencement.
Chief Segun Imoinah, the Ogidigan of Ora, clarified that the community was not involved in any lawsuit and instead, fully supports the project. “We are committed to ensuring the success of this programme, which will significantly impact our community’s development,” he said.
Chief Okhuoya Akhadelor, chairman of the Ora-Government Interface Committee, attributed the lawsuit to a few individuals attempting to sabotage the community’s progress. HRH Samuel Dogo, the Utebi of Illueha, also expressed surprise at the lawsuit, reaffirming the community’s support for the government’s initiative.
The communities’ leaders and members are united in their appreciation for the project, recognizing its potential to enhance oil palm production and stimulate economic growth.
