Edo-CSDA Embarks on Project to Enhance Community Development Across 16 LGAs

The Edo State Community and Social Development Agency (Edo-CSDA) is set to revolutionize community development by constructing and renovating essential infrastructure in 20 communities across 16 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to improve the livelihoods of residents by focusing on the construction and renovation of boreholes, classrooms, offices, and staff quarters within primary healthcare facilities.

To ensure the success and suitability of the projects, the Edo-CSDA has initiated a comprehensive field appraisal process.

Technical experts from the agency, along with officials from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), including Education, SUBEB, Roads and Bridges, Health, Primary Healthcare Development, Environment, and Water Resources, are collaborating to assess the feasibility and appropriateness of the proposed project sites.

This meticulous approach aims to preempt any challenges that may arise during the execution of the projects.

Barrister Imodu Longe, the Team Lead and Operations Manager of Edo-CSDA, emphasized the importance of aligning proposed projects with government policies and guidelines. Through community engagement and a needs assessment phase, the agency collaborates with communities to identify essential development requirements.

Micro-projects are then selected for execution, and a comprehensive implementation strategy is crafted and evaluated by the local government. Once approved, a committee is constituted by the community to oversee the project execution, with the agency providing financial assistance and monitoring the progress.

The communities that have already been visited as part of this project include Erhunrun in Akoko-Edo, Imiegba in Etsako East, Sabongida-Ora in Owan West, Ogba-nugu, Okogbo, and Evboehighae in Orhionmwon, Udo in Ovia South-East, Ugbineh, Uhen, and Obarenren in Ovia North-East, Ikpe, Evbovoen, and Evbomodu in Ikpoba Okha, Iguogbe in Uhunmwode, Iyekogbe in Esan Central, Ebhoiyi in Esan North-East, Ohordua in Esan South-East, Obodeko in Igueben, and Ujiogba in Esan West.
