Edo-CSDA Launches Micro Projects in 20 Communities

The Edo State Government, through its Community and Social Development Agency (Edo-CSDA), has given approval for the commencement of micro projects in 20 communities across 13 local government areas (LGAs) within the state.

The official launch of these projects took place with the presentation of first tranche cheques to the benefiting communities.

The General Manager of the Agency, Engr. Osazuwa Osarume, a team of officers, including representatives from the State Cares Coordinating Unit (SCCU) and the chairpersons of respective LGAs, were present during the project launch.

The government will cover 97 percent of the total project cost while each benefiting community will contribute three percent. The government’s contribution will be disbursed in three tranches, with the community responsible for project implementation and maintenance.

Engr. Osarume highlighted that the projects will follow a Community-Driven Development approach, ensuring the involvement of the local labor force and procurement of construction materials from within the communities.

Rigorous monitoring will occur during the 90-day window for project implementation to ensure adherence to set standards. An essential part of the launch involved signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Agency and the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC), ensuring transparency and collaboration.

The approved micro projects consist of various community enhancements, including the renovation of healthcare facilities, schools, and water supply systems, as well as the construction of staff quarters, classrooms, and offices. The edionwere and elders from the benefiting communities expressed their appreciation for the government’s initiative and pledged their commitment to the successful execution of the projects.

Among the communities set to benefit from the social development projects are Erhunhun, Imiegba, Sabongida-Ora, Ogba-nugu, Okogbo, Evboehighae, Udo, Ugbineh, Uhen, Igbekhue, Obarenren, Ikpe, Evbovoen, Evbomodu, Iguogbe, Iyekogbe, Ebhoiyi, Ohordua, Obodeko, and Ujiogba.

Prominent individuals in attendance at the launch included representatives of the Secretary to the State Government, leaders of the Legislative Arm of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Council, the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, and the Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Council.
