Edo cult clash: Court remands seven suspects

A Criminal Court sitting in Benin City, on Friday, remanded seven suspects over their involvement in the recent cult clash in the Benin metropolis.

The seven suspects who were arrested in connection with the resurgence of cult-related clashes in Benin City were remanded in prison custody by Hon. Justice Efe Ikponmwonba, sitting in Criminal Court 1, Benin City.

The suspects, namely, Esosa Eregeorowo, Frank Obaze, Ministrer Godwin, Jeremiah Timothy, Jimoh Lasisi, Osasu Idehen and Idehen Marvis were arraigned for conspiracy to commit murder, murder and membership of an unlawful society.

Ruling on an application motion brought by the Prosecutor, the court ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Oko Correctional Centre in Benin City, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Edo State.
