Edo Govt Cautions Against Using 5 mg Norvasc Tablets

The Edo State Government has issued a warning to locals not to purchase or use the 5 mg Norvasc pills made by American pharma manufacturer Viatris Inc. after iron wires were found in samples obtained from the shipment.

Prof. Obehi Akoria, the Edo State Commissioner for Health, stated in a statement that the cautions came after the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) issued an alert.

Prof. Akoria said, “Following the discovery of iron wires in samples taken from the shipment and claims from Taiwan Norvasc users that the tablets, when cut into halves, contain iron wire, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued an alert and warning that the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ordered the recall of six million tablets from two batches of Norvasc 5 mg tablets produced by U.S.-based drug developer Viatris Inc.

“The two batches of Norvasc 5 mg tablets are substandard based on the information provided above.”

The Commissioner added, “Any individuals, pharmacies, and medical institutions who could be in possession of any of these batches of Norvasc 5 mg tablets ought to get rid of them right away by following the proper procedures.
