Edo Govt Reiterates Commitment to Science and Technology Advancements

The government of Edo State has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing science and technology. In line with this, it has put in place strategies to nurture a digital economy and stimulate scientific and technological growth within the state.

This commitment was communicated by the state’s Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., at the opening of the three-day Science and Technology Innovation exhibition at Imaguero College, Benin City. The event was themed “Science, Technology, and Innovation: A Tool for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development.”

Mrs. Priscillia Aziegbemhin, the Permanent Secretary in Mr. Okungbowa’s office, represented him at the event. She explained that the exhibition aimed to highlight advancements in science. As the world evolves into a global village powered by science and technology, Edo State is keen on showcasing its scientific community’s developments.

Yuwa Naps, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy, Science, and Technology, saw the exhibition as a golden opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. He emphasized that the Governor has prioritized technological advancement in the state and seeks to promote science across all sectors. The exhibition, he said, provides a platform for innovators and researchers to collaborate, given the critical role of research in advancing science and technology.

Prof Julius Iyasele, the keynote speaker at the event, stressed that the goal of science and technology is to answer questions, broaden knowledge, and find practical solutions to problems.

The participants expressed their gratitude to Governor Obaseki and the Ministry of Digital Economy, Science, and Technology for the chance to display their innovations. Among them was Mr. Festus Okan, a professional web developer and founder of Solidpyco Limited, who was grateful for the opportunity to showcase his innovations at the exhibition.
