The Edo State, Mr. Governor Godwin Obaseki, has unveiled the state Tier 4 data center, signaling a bold step towards embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for enhanced government efficiency.

In a media address in Benin City, Governor Obaseki highlighted the state’s commitment to digital transformation, making Edo the first Nigerian government entity to go completely paperless.

Obaseki expressed pride in the achievements of the outgoing year, emphasizing the simplified work processes that guarantee superior services for investors and stakeholders.

He asserted, “We expect that with the investment made in building a Tier 4 data center and other interventions, we should be well positioned to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance in the near future.”

Looking ahead to 2024, Governor Obaseki outlined ambitious plans to further expand the state’s technology landscape. Edo State, already pioneering with its state-owned data center and the Edo Tech Park, aims to attract more investment, fortify existing infrastructure, and ensure the security of the digital ecosystem.

“With the deployment of fiber optic internet connectivity spanning the state’s 18 local government areas, we are creating a conducive environment for the flourishing of e-commerce, e-learning, and e-health. This sets the stage for the deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in government processes,” Obaseki declared.
