Edo Partners with Oando Clean Energy for Electric Buses, Wind Energy Project

The Edo State Government has partnered with Oando Clean Energy Limited, a renowned renewable energy company, to revolutionize the State’s transportation system through the deployment of electric buses. Simultaneously, the government has sealed a deal for a wind energy project with a substantial capacity of 175 Megawatt.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Edo State government and Oando Clean Energy took place at the Government House in Benin City, the State capital.

Osarodion Ogie Esq., representing Governor Obaseki, reiterated the government’s commitment to providing clean energy access to all communities in the State. As one of the pioneering States in embracing clean energy, the Edo government is thrilled to partner with Oando Energy.

Dr. Ojeifoh Enaholo, the Commissioner for Mining and Energy, shared that the electric bus scheme would be implemented in phases, beginning with five buses for the initial phase. Similarly, the wind energy project will commence with a pilot scheme, aiming to transform the electricity sector in the State.

Charging stations equipped with all necessary facilities for the vehicle batteries will be installed.
