Edo PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi Regains Freedom after 11-Days Ordeal

The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Tony Aziegbemi, has been released by his abductors after an 11-day captivity.

Aziegbemi returned to his residence around 3 a.m. on Tuesday following negotiations with the abductors. His family had been contacted on Friday, with a ransom demand of N500 million reported by a family source to journalists in Benin on Sunday.

The update on Aziegbemi’s release was shared by Senator Odion Ugbesia at 6:17 a.m., though it remains unclear if any ransom was paid for his freedom.

Aziegbemi was abducted near his home on March 15 at 11 p.m. on Idaro Street in Benin, Edo State. The incident took place as he was returning from a meeting at the Government House, with his driver present during the kidnapping.
