Edo Police Arrest Four Robbery Suspects in Military Uniforms

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended four individuals who were skilled at robbing unwary civilians while dressed in military uniforms.

It was also reported that the suspects were members of cults that terrorize residents of Benin, the capital of Edo State.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, stated during a press conference on Tuesday that the Intelligence Unit had taken the suspects into custody in response to a petition filed by Grace Ainabe regarding a robbery that had occurred in her home.

According to Nwabuzor, the suspects—Iyabor Victor, 35; Osas Aganmwonyi, 28; Nosa Owie, 24; and Idi Etukudo, 35—broke into the Ainabe house in Teboga Community, off Lucky Way, while disguised as soldiers.

According to him, the suspect broke into the house using firearms and took her valuables, which included jewelry, phones, and cash.

He declared, “The suspect broke into her home through the ceiling, stole everything from the family, and took N447,000 from the victims’ bank account.

“To gain access to her bank account, they gathered her phone and coerced her into giving them her secret code number.”

Following the transfer, according to Nwabuzor, the suspects divided the money among themselves and converted it to foreign currency before the police detained them.

Jewelry valued at N850,000, an iPhone 6 worth N48,000.00, and an iPhone 13 worth N500,000.00 were among the items found from the suspects.

A washing machine, gas cylinders, an LG split air conditioner worth N360,000, standing fans, table fans valued at N140,000, and inverter batteries and accessories are among the other items.

The primary suspect, Victor, claimed that the victim, whom he identified as Johanna, had an in-law who had provided them with the information required to execute the robbery.

“I got the military uniform from the house of a military officer who died some time ago.

Victor continued, “We broke through the ceiling into the woman’s home, took her pin by force, and removed the money in her account.
