A tragic incident has shaken the community of Auchi in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, where a man identified as TJ was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, Queen, just hours after the couple celebrated their son’s second birthday.
According to eyewitness accounts, the couple had shown no signs of conflict prior to the incident. Neighbors reported that the family had hosted a modest celebration for their child and retired peacefully for the night. However, concern grew the following morning when the couple failed to emerge from their home.
The alarm was raised when their toddler was seen wandering outside with bloodstains on his clothes. Upon investigation, neighbors discovered Queen’s lifeless body inside the house, lying in a pool of blood with visible injuries to her throat. TJ was nowhere to be found, prompting immediate suspicion and a report to the local police division.
The Auchi Police Division launched a manhunt, and the suspect was eventually apprehended and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Benin City for further interrogation.
Confirming the arrest, CSP Moses Yamu, spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, stated, “The suspect has been apprehended and moved to the State CID for proper investigation. The command is committed to ensuring that justice is served.”
The case has sparked widespread concern over domestic violence and the need for early intervention in family disputes. Authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted and that the legal process will be followed to its conclusion.
