Edo Police deploy 3,426 personnel for Eid-el-Kabir security

In order to ensure traffic flow and security during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, 3,426 personnel have been deployed by the Edo State Police Command.

The Command expressed its congratulations to the Muslim faithful in a statement released on Friday by ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, the Command Deputy Public Relations Officer. The statement also urged the state’s citizens to enjoy the festivities without fearing for their lives.

“The Edo State Police Command wishes to felicitate with all our Muslim faithful in the state during this period of Eid-el-Kabir celebration,” the statement said.

“In light of the aforementioned, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, has deployed 3,426 police officers and traffic personnel in an attempt to improve the security of people’s lives and property both during and after the celebration and to drastically reduce crimes and criminality.”

In order to prevent any breakdown of law and order, the CP has equally charged tactical commanders, DPOs, and their supervisory area commanders in the state to increase security in their Area of Responsibility prior to the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

“The supervisory Area commanders have been instructed by the CP to make sure that sufficient police and asset deployment is made in order to deter crime and foster public trust in the state.

“To ensure public safety both during and after the celebration, the CP further charges officers and men of the Command to ensure continuous and intensive patrol, stop and search, raids of black spots and crime-prone areas, and other anti-crime strategies.

The statement also stated, “He issued a warning that personnel deployed must treat members of the public with professionalism and civility.”
