Edo Police Launch Manhunt After Woman and Child Found Murdered Days Before Wedding

The Edo State Police Command has initiated a widespread manhunt for a suspect believed to be responsible for the brutal murder of his fiancée and her three-year-old daughter in Ovbiogoe Community, near Ekiadolor, Ovia North-East Local Government Area.

The victims, identified as “Mama Hallelujah” and her daughter, Miracle, were discovered on March 18th.

The grim discovery was made after a concerned neighbor reported a foul odor emanating from the victim’s residence on Idiangbona Street. According to CSP Moses Yamu, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the neighbor’s report prompted immediate action.

“Acting on the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekiadolor, alongside operatives, forced their way into the apartment, which had been locked from the outside. Inside, they found the decomposing bodies of the woman and her child.” CSP Yamu stated on Tuesday.

The PPRO described the scene, stating, “The woman had a deep cut on her head, suspected to be from a machete, while the child was lifeless on the bed.”

Preliminary investigations have implicated the fiancée, who has been missing since the discovery. Tragically, the couple was preparing for their wedding, scheduled for March 29th.

“All evidence so far points to the fiancé, who has since gone underground. The police are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring his arrest.” CSP Yamu confirmed.

The police command is urging anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward. “We appeal to members of the public to assist with credible information that can lead to his apprehension. Justice must be served for the victims.”  CSP Yamu implored.

CSP Yamu assured the public of the command’s commitment to bringing the perpetrator to justice. He emphasized that investigations have been intensified, and the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary for further examination.
