Edo Security Vigilante Network Applaud Generous Support for Community Policing Drive
The Edo State Security Vigilante Network has received an outpouring of support from private individuals and organizations, boosting the state’s community policing efforts.
Col. Kole Oshoriamhe Omomia (Rtd), Coordinator of the Security Vigilante Network, commended the donations during a media chat in Benin City. He emphasized the pivotal role that this backing plays in enhancing government endeavors to establish a safe and conducive environment for sustainable development in the state.
Recent contributions, including vital supplies from a group led by former Inspector General of Police, Dr. Solomon Arase, underscore the community’s commitment to fortifying security structures and enhancing intelligence operations in rural areas.
Omomia called for continued backing to ensure the vigilantes are well-equipped to navigate evolving security threats in suburban regions and beyond.
Dr. Solomon Arase highlighted that the donations were tailored to bolster policing efforts in seven local governments in Edo South Senatorial District, thanks to the collaboration with esteemed individuals like Chief (Mrs) Rosemary Osula Mku-Atu and others.
The assortment of donated items, ranging from vehicles and motorcycles to customized apparel and equipment, is set to bolster the capabilities of the security network. Arase stressed the importance of collective support for the government’s security initiatives, emphasizing their effectiveness in addressing insecurity in rural areas.
He cited successful models in Edo North and Edo Central, championed by the Amalgamated Afemai Forum and Atanakpa, as inspirations for extending similar partnerships across the entire state.
