Edo Sports Commission Seeks UBA Sponsorship for Upcoming State Sports Festival

The Edo State Sports Commission has approached United Bank for Africa (UBA) seeking sponsorship for the 4th edition of the State Sports Festival, scheduled to take place in Benin City from April 21st to May 1st.

Amadin Enabulele, Chairman of the Commission, led a delegation to a UBA branch in Benin City on Monday to formally request the bank’s support and discuss a potential partnership.

“We underscore the need for private-sector support to nurture young sports talents and drive sustainable development in the sports sector,” Enabulele stated, emphasizing the vital role corporate entities play in fostering athletic growth within the state.

The Chairman lauded UBA’s commitment to financial inclusion, describing the institution as “strong and reliable.” He passionately urged the bank to consider sponsoring the upcoming festival, highlighting its potential to significantly boost sports development across Edo State.

“We believe this festival will be instrumental in identifying and developing the next generation of Edo sports stars,” Enabulele added.

Responding to the request, UBA Regional Manager, Isede Osagie, acknowledged the longstanding relationship between the bank and Edo State, referencing Finance Commissioner Emmanuel Okoebor’s previous role as a UBA regional manager.

Osagie assured the delegation that UBA would carefully review the sponsorship proposal. “We will review the sponsorship proposal and communicate its decision soon,” he confirmed, leaving the door open for a potential partnership that could significantly contribute to the success of the 4th Edo State Sports Festival. The outcome of UBA’s decision is keenly anticipated by the Commission and the budding athletes poised to participate.
