The Edo State Government has announced a deadline extension for commercial drivers to comply with the state’s colour code regulation, aiming to enhance road safety and transport management.
According to Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Osasere M. Evbuomwan, the government has considered the concerns and requests of drivers and transport unions, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employers Association (RTEAN).
“The Edo State Government is committed to ensuring a safe and organized transport system, and we appreciate the cooperation of commercial drivers and vehicle owners,” Evbuomwan said.
“To facilitate a smooth transition, we have extended the deadline for compliance to December 31st, 2022, for all unpainted commercial vehicles to be painted in the State Colour Code.”
He emphasized that the prohibition on unregistered vehicles remains in effect, and all commercial vehicles must undergo profiling and receive Security Code Numbers (SCN). The profiling exercise is ongoing at Godwin Obaseki Hall, EDSTMA Academy, Ministry of Transportation, Sapele Road, Benin City.
