The Edo State Government has initiated a four-day capacity-building workshop for education officials and stakeholders on the implementation of the Teachers Management Information System (TMIS). This digital platform aims to revolutionize educational administration across the state.
The workshop, organized by the Ministry of Education in Benin City, is being facilitated by BBGNSURF Technologies Ltd in collaboration with UNICEF. Participants will gain expertise in digital tools designed to enhance teacher record management, deployment strategies, performance tracking, and policy compliance.
Speaking at the opening session on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Edith Ebomoyi lauded Governor Monday Okpebholo’s dedication to digital reform within the education sector. She emphasized that the TMIS represents a pivotal innovation for fostering transparency, accountability, and data-driven planning.
The TMIS platform offers a comprehensive solution for managing human resources in education by integrating biometric verification, geo-tagged school data, and real-time analytics. BBGNSURF facilitators Auwal Abdulmumin and Ibrahim Hamisu guided participants through demonstrations on platform navigation and utilization.
Mr. Gabriel Oriri, the Ministry’s Director of Planning and Research, praised the collaborative effort, noting that Edo State is establishing a new standard for educational reform. “With TMIS, we are redefining how education systems should be managed,” he stated.
Attendees at the training included ICT desk officers, school principals, zonal education heads, and other senior officials, who will serve as ambassadors for the statewide rollout. The TMIS is expected to enhance teacher data integrity, inform state education policy, and strengthen school accountability mechanisms, aligning with Governor Okpebholo’s broader vision for a digitally driven education system.
The Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity and ongoing digital capacity development, ensuring that no teacher or school is excluded from Edo’s transformation journey.
