Edo State Governor Approves ₦1 Billion Annual Bursary for Students

Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved a ₦1 billion annual bursary scheme for Edo State students enrolled in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Sunday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua.

The governor’s pledge came during a recent town hall meeting with Edo youths, following appeals from youth leaders for financial support for indigenes pursuing higher education.

Governor Okpebholo stated that the annual bursary aims to ease the financial strain on students and their families.

Eligibility for the bursary will be verified through applicants’ local governments of origin to ensure that only genuine Edo indigenes benefit from the scheme.

The governor emphasized that this initiative is part of his administration’s commitment to promoting educational access, academic excellence, and youth empowerment.

Details regarding application procedures and timelines will be released shortly by the relevant government departments and agencies.
