The Edo State Ministry of Education has announced a collaborative partnership with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) aimed at maximizing welfare benefits for students across the state. The initiative seeks to address financial barriers to higher education and foster academic success.
According to a statement released by Dr. Paddy Iyamu, the Edo State Commissioner for Education, this collaboration marks a pivotal moment for students in the state.
“This is a milestone and a significant event. The Edo State Ministry of Education is collaborating with the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), and the collaboration promises to transform the educational landscape for students in Edo State,” Dr. Iyamu stated.
The partnership aims to ensure that Edo students can access university education without the immediate pressure of tuition fees.
“Through this exciting development, the partnership will ensure all Edo students can access university education without the immediate burden of tuition fees,” the Commissioner explained.
He further highlighted the potential benefits, stating, “This innovative programme aims to remove financial barriers, enabling students to focus on their studies and achieve their academic goals without the stress of upfront payment and even with the benefit of a N20,000 monthly stipend.”
Dr. Iyamu urged students to capitalize on this opportunity, emphasizing its potential to pave the way for academic achievement. “No more hindrance to success. Make plans to attend,” he encouraged.
The Commissioner also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for their commitment to creating an environment where students can prosper, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
“The Student Loan Scheme introduced by His Excellency President Bola Tinubu is a game changer, and that is being complemented by the massive infrastructural development that is taking place in the education sector in Edo State under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo. We are surely on the right path in Edo State,” Dr. Iyamu concluded, emphasizing the synergistic effect of national and state-level initiatives in advancing education within Edo State.
The collaboration promises to streamline access to funding and further solidify the state’s commitment to improving educational opportunities for all its students.
