Edo Vocational Center opens by the Niger Delta Ministry

A multiskill vocational center has been opened in Edo State by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs as part of their efforts to create wealth and jobs in the Niger Delta region.

According to a statement released by Deworitshe Patricia, Director of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, the center has departments for training in a variety of skills, including fashion design, hairdressing, carpentry, and footwear design.

During the center’s opening, Umana Umana, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, stated that vocational training was a practical way to generate income and jobs in the area.

The training facility was cited by Umana, who was accompanied by Olufunsho Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, as one of the benefits of the President’s (retd.) infrastructure agenda.
The minister stated: “The project construction was awarded in two phases, December 2020 and December 2021, in accordance with the ministry’s mandate, with the aim of preparing youths in the Niger Delta region to gain technical skills that can be advantageous in converting them into wealth and job creators.

“The Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to addressing the inequalities in the Niger Delta region is exemplified by this commissioning. I have no doubt that the construction, which was managed by native and local contractors, has benefited the communities by giving young people job opportunities.”

The minister appealed to the youth and others to take good care of the facility and make sure it is utilized in an environmentally friendly way.
