Education: The Best Legacy for Our Children, Says Akoko-Edo Local Government Chairman
Akoko-Edo Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Tajudeen Alade Suleman Esq, emphasizes the importance of education as the greatest legacy parents can pass on to their children.
He made this assertion during a bursary disbursement ceremony at Ojirami Mixed Secondary School, organized by the Edo State House of Assembly member, Rt. Hon Yekini Idaiye.
In his address, Hon. Tajudeen highlighted the positive changes that have taken place in the Local Government Area since he assumed office nearly five months ago. He urged the community to support his administration’s efforts to rebuild the area, emphasizing that lamenting infrastructural decay will not bring about change.
Stressing that the power to bring about change lies in the hands of the people, Hon. Tajudeen called for unity and solidarity among the residents of Akoko-Edo. He also mentioned his efforts to address issues of poor electricity supply and security in collaboration with the State Government.
“We have the key to bringing about change. Since the beginning of my administration, we have not stopped. To achieve the ideas of our fathers, we must unite and take control of our own destiny.
“Our Local Government is the largest, but we can’t keep complaining about how big it is. We have to shun grievances and hostility of any kind. Let’s see each other as a single Akoko-Edo.” he noted.
The Chairman further shared plans to renovate the Ojirami dam to improve water supply to neighboring communities. He expressed optimism that every facility in the school would be functional, underlining the significance of education in achieving success.
Rt. Hon. Yekini Idaiye, the donor and member representing Akoko-Edo constituency 1 in the Edo State House of Assembly, commended Chairman Barr. Tajudeen Alade’s remarkable developmental achievements.
He thanked the Ojirami community for their support, emphasizing that the bursary disbursement was aimed at reciprocating the kindness shown to him by his late father, who ensured his education despite challenging circumstances.
The event, which took place simultaneously across 16 schools in the Local Government Area, was hailed by the Principal of the school, Mrs. Adeniran Mercy. She requested support in the form of computers ahead of the proposed 2025 Computer Based WAEC examination.
Chief Oberemu Josiah, the PTA Chairman, praised the Council Boss for his impactful work and urged him to address the appointment regularization of community teachers funded by the PTA. He also emphasized the need for perimeter fencing and increased security for the school compound to protect its status as a prominent learning institution.
