Eid-ul-Maulud: Obaseki extends his congratulations to Muslims and asks for prayers for the success of the general elections in 2023

The governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated the Muslim faithful on this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration in honor of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).

In a statement, Obaseki urged the state’s Muslim population to use the occasion of the celebration to offer prayers for the success of the general elections scheduled for 2023.

In his words, “I congratulate the Muslim faithful on the occasion of celebrating the birth of Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W.) as we mark Eid el-Maulud this year.

“As we get ready for the general election in 2023, the celebration gives us a chance to reflect thoughtfully.

“The prophet’s message of peace and good neighborliness should inspire us all to work together towards creating a strong, united, and prosperous Nigeria, regardless of our religious, tribal, ethnic, and political affiliations.

“I also implore the faithful Muslims to use this occasion to pray for the general elections of 2023.

“We as a government shall persist in formulating policies that uphold the harmonious coexistence of all citizens in Edo State and represent our diversity as a people.”
