INEC Presents Certificates of Return to Winners Of Edo State House of Assembly Elections

Edo State, Independent National Electoral Commission, has presented certificates of return to Rt. Hon Yekini Idaiye and Hon Donald Okogbe respectively as winners of the Saturday 18th march 2023 EDHA elections and as members to represent constituencies one and two in Akoko-Edo LGA

Presenting the certificates at a ceremonyin Benin -City, Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Emmanuel Alex-Hart disclosed that it is the duty of INEC to issue certificate of return to winners of elections as enshrined in the electoral act.

“INEC is under obligation to issue certificate of return to winners of any electoral context which ultimately would qualify them for inauguration for the task ahead.”

Speaking earlier, Rt Hon Yekini Idaiye, serving member and member-elect representing Akoko-Edo constituency one, appreciated INEC for putting the ceremony together, noting that it is a call to more work geared towards ensuring that his constituents have a consistent feel of governance, while also promising to justify the confidence reposed in him by party cheiftains.

Also speaking, Hon Donald Okogbe, EDHA member-elect representing Akoko-Edo constituency two, promised to hit the ground running once inaugurated while thanking party leaders and constituents for their efforts during the elections.

He used the occasion to appreciate INEC for finding them worthy to serve.

On his part, the liaison officer to Akoko-Edo LGA Hon Jeffrey Obasanmi commended the PDP party stalwarts across the state for providing the platform and enabling environment for the attainment of the desired victory.

He urged members-elect to be magnanimous in victory even as he tasked them to have the interest of party members in their front burner while carrying out their parliamentary obligations.
