June 12 — Edo Youths Host Obaseki for Inauguration of State Chapter NYCN New Leadership
On Monday, June 12, 2023, young individuals from all 18 local government regions of Edo State will welcome State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, at the inauguration of the new executive team of the Edo State branch of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
The event is set to occur at the Edo NYCN Secretariat, Akpakpava, Benin City, starting at 9 am sharp.
In a conversation with the press, the Deputy Chairman of Edo NYCN, Johnson Matthew Ogbogho, expressed that the inauguration, marking the beginning of the youth body’s new leadership, will provide a chance for the state governor to engage with the state’s youth.
He stated, “The fresh leadership of the Edo State National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) will be inaugurated on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Council’s Secretariat in Benin City by 9 am. As a part of the inauguration events, Edo’s youth will be hosting State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, uniting youths from the 18 local government areas of the State with their high-performing governor and chief executive.
“Edo’s youth take pride in hosting Governor Obaseki, who has achieved significant progress in encouraging youth involvement in governance and has created numerous opportunities for young individuals to reach their maximum potential through initiatives like Edojobs and other programs. As the organization tasked with advocating for the interests and welfare of the state’s youth, we recognize the importance of maintaining regular communication between the government and the youth to preserve the advancements made in youth development and address the issues confronting young individuals in the State. These are some of the motivations behind organizing this event.”
Ogbogho reassured that the new executives are committed to implementing programs that promote inclusivity and improve opportunities for the state’s youth, stating, “We will persist in our efforts, in collaboration with the government, to encourage unity, advance youth empowerment initiatives, and advocate for the socio-economic progress of our energetic and dynamic youth community.”
Additionally, the organization’s Public Relations Officer, Uwanogho John, praised the governor for his continued investment in education and vocational training for the youth, stating: “This is the first instance of Edo State having a governor who prioritizes youth, having placed young individuals at the center of his administration’s projects and policies over the past six years.”
He further observed, “The government has implemented numerous projects and pursued nuanced reforms to enhance the welfare and wellbeing of the youth, and this meeting will offer an excellent opportunity for the government to display these projects and hear directly from the beneficiaries about the impact of these projects on the people, particularly the youth population.”
