The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has expressed his gratitude to the citizens for their unwavering commitment to democratic principles over the past quarter century. He emphasized that this dedication is crucial for the continuous growth and stability of the nation.

In his address, Obaseki also encouraged the electorate to actively participate in the upcoming September 21 gubernatorial election. He highlighted the importance of making informed choices at the polls to maintain the state’s forward momentum.

On this significant day of democracy, we must recognize the steadfastness and courage of our people in upholding democracy’s foundational principles for the last 25 years,” he stated. “This enduring legacy allows us to elect our leaders and hold them accountable every four years.”

Our democratic journey has been long and while we may not be exactly where we aspire to be, our nation is undoubtedly stronger for it,” he continued. “Democracy, with its emphasis on individual freedom, economic opportunity, civil rights, equity, and justice, remains the most favorable system of governance for achieving lasting progress.”

Obaseki credited the Nigerian populace for the nation’s democratic maturity, acknowledging their respect for democratic norms as the key to achieving enduring development.

With the Edo State governorship election on the horizon, Obaseki called on the citizens to cast their votes thoughtfully, choosing a leader who offers a clear and practical vision for the community’s advancement.

“As we approach the election in September, it’s imperative to reflect on our choices,” he advised. “The state has seen remarkable advancements over the past eight years, and it’s essential that we pass the torch to a successor who will continue the work we’ve begun. I implore everyone to vote in large numbers for a candidate who is not only credible and approachable but also possesses a proven record of outstanding performance.”
