Obaseki Celebrates Edo Queens’ Victory, Reiterates Commitment to Financial Management for State’s Growth

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has emphasized the importance of politics as a means to improve the lives of citizens. He highlighted that his administration is dedicated to serving the populace and fostering rapid development and prosperity within the state.

Governor Obaseki gave assurances that his administration is committed to responsibly managing the state’s finances, ensuring that funds are not misappropriated but instead invested in the state’s advancement and the betterment of its residents.

During a celebratory event at the Government House in Benin City, Obaseki honored the Edo Queens Football Club for their triumph in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League Super Six, securing a spot to represent Nigeria in the CAF Women Champions League.

Reflecting on his tenure since 2016, Obaseki noted a significant shift in the state’s outlook. The once prevalent desire among the youth to leave the country has been transformed into a renewed sense of hope and a willingness to contribute to the state’s growth.

“I don’t bother when people talk about things they don’t know. We have no regrets; the money they refused to use for the Edo people is the money we have turned around and used for our people,” Obaseki stated.

He further remarked on the financial stewardship of his government: “In the last eight years, we have fought different battles, overcome them all, and will always come out victorious. No matter what they do, we will continue to use Edo money for Edo people.”

Obaseki concluded by reiterating the core principle of his governance philosophy: “We have money in Edo State but when we steal the money, there will be no money to take care of Edo people. Governance is about using the money to develop the state and its people.”
