On Monday, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State, had the honor of adorning 54 security officers, including police officers and officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), with their newly earned ranks.
These promotions, approved by the Police Service Commission (PSC), were awarded to officers who demonstrated the necessary experience, years of committed service, and academic qualifications.
The ceremony took place at the Government House in Benin City, where the officers, who serve the Governor and other state officials, were decorated.
During the decoration, Governor Obaseki urged the officers to persist in upholding the rule of law and supporting the government’s endeavors to ensure the safety and security of lives and property throughout the State.
He reiterated his government’s dedication to peace, security, and progress in Edo, assuring that the State will continue to collaborate with security agencies to fight crime and ensure enduring peace and security across all communities in the State.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, SP Ibrahim Babatunde Mojeed praised the governor for his dedication to enhancing security in the State, noting that the officers’ promotions were awarded between April and May 2023.
