The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has set the stage for an exhilarating collaboration between Nigerian and German filmmakers.

Welcoming the filmmakers from Germany in Benin City, Governor Obaseki emphasized his commitment to supporting and nurturing creatives by providing an enabling environment and state-of-the-art equipment.

Representing the governor, Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Uyi Oduwa-Malaka, assured the six German filmmakers an unforgettable experience in Benin City.

With the state government’s provision of all necessary resources for their training, the filmmakers can delve into their craft with full confidence.

The 21-day training and workshop sessions, currently underway at the prestigious Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, will culminate in the production of a captivating short fiction or documentary by the two teams.

This exchange program, initiated by the Edo State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Tourism, aims to foster cultural exchange and propel Edo State to the forefront of the Nigerian film industry.

Expressing gratitude to the German team and Nigerian student participants, the commissioner highlighted Governor Obaseki’s ambitious vision of transforming Edo State into the leading film production hub in Nigeria.

Incentives, including free accommodation, transportation, and enhanced security, have been provided by the state government to encourage filmmakers to choose Edo State as their backdrop for captivating stories.

The visiting filmmakers were encouraged to explore and marvel at the state’s breathtaking tourist attractions during their stay, infusing their creations with the essence of Edo’s rich heritage.

Iryn Omorogiuwa, the permanent secretary in the ministry, extended warm wishes for success to the German filmmakers and pledged the ministry’s unwavering support throughout their journey.
