Obaseki Seeks Support of Private School Owners to Revolutionize Education Sector
Governor Obaseki of Edo State held a crucial meeting with private school owners in the state, urging them to join forces in sustaining the remarkable progress made in the ongoing education sector reforms.
During a dialogue session at the Government House in Benin City, Governor Obaseki emphasized the state government’s significant investments in education to prepare the next generation of Edo citizens to compete globally.
Obaseki highlighted the historical significance of Bendel and Mid-Western regions as education hubs and stressed the need for the private sector to provide higher standards of education to attract more students.
“We are now in a knowledge-based world, and those with education will dominate the future. Our goal is to give our people the best quality education and change the trajectory of education in Edo State.” Governor Obaseki stated.
Emphasizing the importance of collaboration and standard-setting, the Governor called for dialogue to ensure that pupils receive the best education, making the country great.
Furthermore, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Joan Oviawe, welcomed private school owners and discussed the reform agenda for private school education, including the EdoBest 2.0 education reform framework. She also revealed that the Edo State College of Education would commence operations in September 2022 to train more teachers.
