In a monumental move to ensure the safety and protection of its citizens, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State will be hosting a high-profile security summit on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
Titled “Edo State Security Framework: Repositioning for the Future,” the summit will not only showcase past accomplishments but also unveil the blueprint for the future security landscape of Edo State.
At the event, Governor Obaseki will also officiate the grand opening of the cutting-edge Edo State Command and Control Centre (EC3), a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as the nerve center for monitoring and responding to security issues in the state.
Kingsley Uwagbale, the Edo State Commissioner for Public Safety and Security, expressed the significance of this summit, emphasizing its aim to evaluate potential risks, redefine areas of concern, and establish a comprehensive five-year forecast equipped with strategies to tackle emerging security challenges.
He said, “This is to inform members of the general public that the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki will be hosting the Edo Security Summit on Thursday, December 7, 2023. As part of the Summit, His Excellency will also perform the official commissioning of the Edo State Command and Control Center (EC3).
“The summit, with the theme ‘Edo State Security Framework: Repositioning for the Future’, aims to showcase achievements, outline the future security landscape for Edo State, evaluate potential risks, redefine flashpoints, and establish a five-year forecast with strategies to address emerging challenges.”
Uwagbale highlighted the crucial role of all invited stakeholders, whose participation, insight, and expertise will be integral to the summit’s success. Their contributions will help bolster the achievements of Governor Obaseki’s administration in the realm of security, further solidifying the state’s commitment to consolidating and enhancing the safety measures in place in Edo State.
