Obaseki Urges Efficient Service Delivery, Warns Non-Performing Officials

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has called on heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to eliminate waste and deliver efficient services to the people.

Governor Obaseki made this charge during the State Government’s Leadership Retreat themed “Expanding Frontiers, Succeeding Together.”

In his welcome address, Obaseki stressed the importance of a work ethic that prioritizes the needs of the people. He acknowledged the rising expectations of Nigerians and their dissatisfaction with government officials, as seen on social media platforms.

Obaseki challenged the participants to drive the needed changes in their duties and deliver quality services to the electorate. He expressed disappointment in government officials who fail to recognize the changing times, stating that the upcoming general elections will heavily weigh voters’ choices.

He cautioned that politicians and civil servants alike should expect consequences if they fail to meet the expectations of the people. Obaseki emphasized that voters will demand tangible results and hold officials accountable for unfulfilled promises.

In light of the growing demand for development amidst limited resources, the Governor urged collaboration and prioritization of projects. However, he also warned that non-performing workers would face consequences, as the government aims to optimize resources for the benefit of the people.

Governor Obaseki highlighted the need to diversify the economy in response to the current economic trends, with a focus on tapping into the potential of sectors such as tourism and information and communication technology (ICT).
