Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working alongside the Federal Government to advance the state’s development and make it a model for others.
This promise was made during a courtesy visit from the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, at the Government House in Benin City.
Governor Okpebholo praised Mrs. Madein’s appointment as the Accountant-General, noting her contributions to improving the financial system since taking office.
“She is a ‘due process’ person, and as the Accountant-General of the Federation, she will continue to follow due process,” he stated. He emphasized the enhancements seen in the accounting system under her leadership, declaring, “There is a lot of improvement in the system, and you are doing well.”
The Governor also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his vested interest in Edo State, referencing the significant developmental progress made since the President adopted Edo as his second home.
“Even as an opposition State then, I knew we were part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) family,” he remarked, highlighting the unity in politics and its impact on progress.
Governor Okpebholo confidently asserted that with ongoing collaboration with the Federal Government, “Edo will become the envy of all.” He concluded by asking for divine guidance for the state’s trajectory.
In her remarks, Mrs. Madein explained that her visit was part of an initiative to assess Federal Pay Offices across the six geopolitical zones, with Edo State being selected for this zone. She outlined plans for the construction of a building that will house the Federal Pay Office, which will serve a crucial role in treasury management for federal institutions across the state.
“The Federal Pay Offices perform the role of treasury management to all the Federal institutions in all the States of the Federation,” she noted.
