Okpebholo Reinstates Attorney General Following Exoneration

Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has reinstated Rt. Hon. Samson Osagie as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, effective Wednesday evening. The reinstatement follows an investigation into allegations of financial impropriety, from which Osagie was exonerated.

Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, Esq., communicated the governor’s directive in a letter dated March 12, 2025. The letter, bearing reference number SGA. 15/NOL.XV111/215, stated that “Having considered the report of the Investigative Panel…which has exonerated you from the said allegations, I write to convey the directive of the Governor…that you resume duties.”

Responding to the announcement, Osagie expressed his gratitude to the governor. “I appreciate his sincerity of purpose and vision for the state,” he stated, adding, “this is a clear indication that His Excellence, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, means well for the state, and I use this medium to reiterate my commitment and loyalty to him and his administration.”

Osagie further affirmed his dedication to collaborating with the Governor to ensure Edo State’s progress, stating, “I remain committed to joining him to ensure that Edo State recovers all lost ground and takes the stage to where it should be.”
