Omobayo Commissions Transformers, Healthcare Facility, and Borehole in Akoko-Edo
Edo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Marvelous Omobayo
During the commissioning of various micro-projects in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Omobayo emphasized the importance of bringing development closer to the people.
The projects, executed by the Edo State Government through the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), include the provision of a 300 KVA transformer for Eshawa community, the commissioning of a 300 KVA transformer for Ibillo community, the revamping of Lampese health center, and the drilling of a borehole for Ojirami Afe Community.
Omobayo stressed that these initiatives aim to attract development and economic prosperity to the benefitting communities, ultimately bridging the gap between urban and rural areas. “These projects are designed to bring development and economic opportunities closer to the people, ensuring that citizens, regardless of their location or political affiliation, can enjoy a better quality of life.” he stated.
The Deputy Governor’s commitment to inclusive development extends beyond infrastructure projects. He also seized the opportunity to address misconceptions surrounding a disputed land issue between his Lampese community and Ibillo community, clarifying that his role as Deputy Governor is to facilitate development and resolve disputes, not to take sides.
He said, “My duty as Deputy Governor is to work towards the progress and well-being of all communities in Edo State. I am committed to facilitating development and resolving disputes, not taking sides in local conflicts. My goal is to create an environment where progress and development can thrive for the benefit of all.”
Recognizing the importance of unity and cooperation for the region’s progress, Omobayo appealed to the people of Okpameri and Akoko-Edo to come together and work collectively towards development.
“Collective efforts are crucial for progress and development. I urge the people of this local government area to unite and work together to achieve our shared goals.” he stated.
The Deputy Governor’s dedication to the region’s development was further highlighted by his expression of support for the candidacy of Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie, citing their commitment to the area’s advancement.
Responding to a request from the people of Ewan to mediate a land dispute with Akuku community, Omobayo advised seeking a peaceful resolution, emphasizing that development thrives in harmonious environments.
“I encourage the representatives of both communities to engage in dialogue and resolve the matter amicably. Development is best achieved when communities work together in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding.” he said.
The Deputy Governor’s visit to Akoko-Edo was met with widespread acclaim from the communities he visited, with Reverend Father Aloysius Oregbeme of Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Lampese, offering prayers for Omobayo’s continued success.
Akoko-Edo Local Government Chairman, Barrister Tajudeen Alade-Suleman, also pledged to continue addressing the needs of the people, while CSDA Chairman, Engr. Osarumen Osasuwa, highlighted the state government’s significant funding contribution to the projects and the agency’s commitment to timely completion.
