Senator Adams Oshiomhole (APC–Edo) has announced the initial set of constituency projects slated for execution in the Edo-North Senatorial District. The projects, aimed at improving living conditions and educational infrastructure, were officially handed over to contractors on Sunday.
The first batch of projects includes the construction of a 2.5-kilometer road connecting Fugar and Ukhor in the Etsako Central Local Government Area. Additionally, six classroom blocks will be erected at Apana Mixed Secondary School in Apana (Etsako West LGA) and Osime Primary School in Agenebode (Etsako East LGA).
Further investments in education encompass a 250-capacity automated CBT center at Iyamho Secondary School in Iyamho and a fully furnished six-block classroom at Akpekpe Secondary School in Auchi. A new block of classrooms is also planned for Ijemounu Primary School in Ihievbe Ogbe, Owan East Local Government Area.
Speaking at the handover event, Senator Oshiomhole, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Victor Oshioke, emphasized the people-oriented nature of the projects.
He stated, “This is the first batch of my constituency projects for 2025. The second batch will cut across all wards and six local governments.”
He further highlighted a focus on education, stating, “My focus is education, which is why I am building schools to enhance learning environments across the district,” and emphasized reviving the ‘red roof revolution’ to provide conducive learning environments for students. He also urged contractors to ensure timely project delivery.
Contractors, including Augustine Erikhumhi of Jehovah Ltd. and Aaron Atta of De-golf Allied Ltd., pledged to complete the projects within three months, seeking collaboration from local communities to meet the deadline. Community leaders, including Mr. Yakubu Musa and Alh. Abubakar Akokhia, expressed their gratitude to Senator Oshiomhole for his commitment to education and expressed optimism that he would deliver on his promises, referencing his past achievements as governor.
