Ososo Community Mourns the Passing of Major General Chris Jemitola, former Aide-de-Camp to President Olusegun Obasanjo

Ososo community in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State has been plunged into mourning following the sudden passing of Major General Chris Jemitola (Rtd), a distinguished military officer and former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

General Jemitola, a distinguished son of Ososo, collapsed at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja on Thursday morning. Despite immediate efforts to rush him to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival. The cause of his collapse remains undisclosed.

Jemitola served as Obasanjo’s ADC from 2003 to 2007 while holding the rank of colonel, demonstrating exceptional dedication and professionalism. Over the course of his illustrious career, he steadily rose through the ranks, serving as Director of Defence Information and later as Defence Attaché at the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil.

Before retiring from active service, he held the critical role of Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) within the Nigerian Army, where his strategic expertise significantly contributed to shaping military operations. Post-retirement, he transitioned to the private sector and, as of 2019, served as a Senior Advisor for Military Communications at Pinnacle Communications Limited.
