Police apprehend the kidnapper after discovering three corpses on the Edo farm

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Usama Abubakar, at Okada Junction, in the Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the development on Wednesday, also said the corpses of three people that were killed by suspected herders in the Sobe community, in the Owan West Local Government Area of the state, on March 4, were recovered.

He said, “Based on reliable information, the police apprehended 35-year-old Usama Abubakar at Okada Junction and took a locally made cut-to-size gun from him.

“In the Sobe community in the state’s Owan West LGA, I can also confirm that three farmers were killed early this month by gunmen who were thought to be herders.

“The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Sobe Division reported that on March 4, some armed men suspected to be herders stormed a farm settlement in the Sobe community and murdered about three farmers and abandoned their corpses at the farm.

He continued, “The bodies of the deceased, Pastor Ogbe Unuoha, Lucky Euze, and John Udo, have been recovered by the police and placed at the mortuary.”

Nwabuzor said an investigation was ongoing to arrest the perpetrators with a view to bringing them to justice.
