Ososo PITO Development Foundation is set to host the 2023 edition of an unforgettable night of cultural immersion and talent showcase as the highly anticipated Project Independence to Ososo (PITO) Nite returns! Mark your calendars for the exhilarating 2023 edition, themed “Afekhafe (Home is Home),” taking place at the prestigious Filani Hotel and Suites in Ososo on December 29th, 2023.
PITO first captivated audiences on December 29th, 2021, at Filani Hotel and Suites, located in the enchanting Ososo town of Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo State.
The visionary behind PITO, Tunde Ajayi, also known as Zealano, shared his inspiration for establishing this platform.
He said, “I wanted to celebrate, promote, and uplift the arts, talent, and culture of Ososo.
“PITO serves as a creative platform to showcase the captivating entertainment world of Ososo, connecting it with a global audience. It aims to support and encourage the talented individuals of Ososo, empowering them to develop their skills and ultimately share their gifts with the world.”
Zealano believes that by fostering independence among individuals, the positive impact will extend to the entire Ososo community. Beyond economic benefits such as job creation and revenue generation, entertainment plays a vital role in shaping our perception of society.
The 2021 celebration distinguished itself with its vibrant cultural infusion and most notably, the presence of LEEGIT, an afro-fusion artist from Florida, USA. Against all odds, LEEGIT joined forces with the town’s prince, Prince Dele Obaitan, as they made a memorable entrance into Ososo.
Looking ahead to this year’s event, Zealano expressed the increased dedication to alleviate poverty.
He highlighted the success stories of previous trainees in the art of Odulalo/Ukperori, with graduates establishing their own thriving clothing businesses. Gift Orifa, whose business is named PITO GRACE, is a shining example of economic self-reliance achieved through PITO.
Zealano’s vision extends beyond clothing production, aspiring to incorporate other skills such as basket making and mat weaving to empower trainees economically. With the support of the generous Ososo community, he is confident in their ability to make a lasting impact, transforming lives and steering youth away from crime.
Zealano teased that PITO 2023 will be an explosive extravaganza, captivating attendees with mesmerizing cultural displays, exceptional talents, and a chance to win exciting prizes.
He called on youths to embrace the opportunity to showcase their talent by participating in the talent hunt competition.
With a first-place prize of N50,000, second-place prize of N30,000, and third-place prize of N20,000, the stakes are high for the first 30 individuals selected for screening, with only 10 finalists advancing.
