Shaibu restate govt’s commitment to workers welfare, human capacity development

The government’s dedication to developing human capacity and furnishing essential tools and a favorable work environment for its employees has been reaffirmed by Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State.

Speaking through Head of Service Anthony Okungbowa Esq. at a public lecture hosted by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CPM) in Benin City, the Deputy Governor provided the assurance.

“CIPM is one professional organization that has distinguished itself over the years and meaningfully contributed towards the development of human capital in Nigeria,” he asserts.

“The public lecture’s theme, ‘Leveraging Human Capital For Sustainable Development and Growth,’ is highly appropriate and aligns with the current administration’s belief that a driven workforce can make a meaningful contribution to the nationwide and societal advancement,” he said.

“It is important to emphasize that in order for a professional organization such as yours to remain relevant in the ever-changing Nigerian society, members and other pertinent stakeholders must convene for public lectures of this nature in order to discuss matters of national concern and, if needed, offer solutions for moving forward.”

Shaibu continued, “As a government, the current administration accords priority to developing human potential in addition to offering a favorable work environment and essential tools and equipment for its workforce and personnel.”

“As part of its intentional efforts to inspire its workforce for the realization of the Making America Great Again (MEGA) Agenda, the current administration has achieved enormous progress and noteworthy accomplishments in its transformation agenda in the civil and public service as of right now.”

“Edo State is unique among Nigerian states in that it offers its employees a minimum wage of N40k, timely salary and pension payments on the 26th of each month, frequent employee training and retraining to ensure peak performance, infrastructure development to create a favorable work environment, and provision of essential tools and equipment for employees, including the introduction and use of e-governance in the administration of government business.”

Congratulating the Chairman of the Governing Council and members on the occasion, the Deputy Governor “reiterated the commitment of Edo State Government towards the welfare, security of lives and properties of our citizens.”

The head of the CIPM branch in Edo State, Mr. Osahon Omole, expressed concern earlier in his speech about the Nigerian economy, comparing it to the famine the Israelites faced and calling it the “Japa economy.”
