We Can Supply the Increasing Demand for Made-in-Edo Products – Braimoh
Afishetu Braimoh, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Cooperatives in Edo State, has stated that the State possesses ample raw materials and production capacity to meet the increasing demand for made-in-Edo products.
The statement was made by Braimoh during her message of goodwill at a one-day export sensitization seminar in Benin City, which was hosted by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and had as its theme, “Leveraging the Export Opportunities in Edo for Increased Export Drive.”
She claims, “In the global market, Made-in-Edo products are enjoying a high degree of patronage. The promoters of Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) are working on their products to make sure they meet the requirements needed for them to enter the global market.
“MSMEs are embracing more insights in their methods of doing things; there is a greater need for economic diversification; well-processed foods are being packaged more appropriately.”
“As far as the government is concerned, we are making every effort to make sure that we do not just follow the trend, but rather concentrate on giving MSMEs the necessary feedback and assistance to optimize the export potential of Made-in-Edo products,” she reassured.
“The Ministry trained 626 MSMEs across the three senatorial districts of the State on financial literacy from April to June of this year. The Ministry continues to support these MSMEs by bringing attention to opportunities for financial and other growth.” the Commissioner added.
