Obaseki Assures NSCDC of Continued Collaboration to Fight Crime

The Edo State Governor, Mr, Godwin Obaseki, yesterday welcomed the newly deployed State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Agun Gbenga Joseph to fight crime and social vices in the state.

The governor assured a continued collaboration with the corps and other security agencies in the state during the meeting held at the Government House in Benin City.

Governor Obaseki emphasized the government’s dedication to working diligently with all relevant stakeholders to maintain peace and security in the state.

He further reiterated the importance of fostering stronger partnerships between states and the Federal Government to effectively tackle crime and criminal activities.

Addressing the new NSCDC Commandant, Governor Obaseki acknowledged the critical timing of his appointment, with several security head changes taking place without prior consultation with the governor. Despite this, he expressed confidence in the Commandant’s ability to uphold security in the state.

“You are coming at an exceptionally crucial time in the security of the state. All our security heads have been changed without reference to the Governor. Changing all security heads is how the Federation Government operates.”

Touching on the prevalent issue of cult-related activities and vandalism within the state, the newly deployed NSCDC Commandant pledged to collaborate with other security agencies to foster and maintain a peaceful environment. He assured the governor of his loyalty and commitment to delivering on the promises made to the people of Edo State.

“As the new NSCDC State Commandant, I have been sent to the state and will collaborate with you to bring about progress and peace to the region. I will work for the Edo people with complete commitment to your government to make sure you keep your word to the Edo people.”
