Edo State Polytechnic Receives Boost in Academic and Vocational Training with Institute of Maritime Silk Road Unveiling.

The unveiling of the Institute of Maritime Silk Road by Fuzhou Polytechnic, China, marks a significant milestone in the academic and vocational training of students at Edo State Polytechnic, USEN.

This development is a result of a two-day official visit by the academic team from Fuzhou Polytechnic, China, to strengthen the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two institutions.

According to Wang Jiansheng, Secretary of the Party Committee, Fuzhou Polytechnic, China, the tripartite agreement between Fuzhou Polytechnic, Yongxing Steel Company, and Edo State Polytechnic, USEN, aims to promote technical education, vocational training, scientific research collaboration, and Chinese language training.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, reiterated his administration’s commitment to repositioning the state-owned polytechnic to produce technically efficient and effective graduates who can promote self-sufficiency without relying on government jobs.

The governor, represented by the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe, appreciated Fuzhou Polytechnic, China, for awarding scholarships to five students of Edo State Polytechnic to acquire vocational skills in China, strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and China.

Rector, Edo State Polytechnic, USEN, Engineer Sylvester Omoruyi, lauded Governor Obaseki’s proactive approach to revamping technical education and infrastructural projects executed to advance the institution’s physical transformation.

The MOU signing resonates with the desire to reset Edo State Polytechnic as a center of academic and technical skills incubation, already yielding positive results.

The Chinese delegation visited the palace of the Olu_Awure of USEN, HRH Oba Olu_Ogbe11, to receive royal blessings, with the education commissioner attributing the peace and tranquility in the host community to the monarch’s fatherly role.

The royal father praised the transformation drive of the Godwin Obaseki-led administration, which has made a significant impact on the state’s economy, and offered prayers for peace and tranquility in Edo State.
