Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Engr. Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, has reaffirmed his position as the authentic second-in-command, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to his official duties as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.
During a solidarity visit from the leadership and members of three prominent transport unions in Edo State—the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and the Edo State Drivers Welfare Scheme—Omobayo stressed that ongoing legal challenges related to his office have not distracted him from his responsibilities.
“I remain the authentic Edo State Deputy Governor, and I continue to perform my official duties as guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Omobayo stated, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to his role and the state’s progress.
The transport unions, represented by their respective chairmen, Comrade Monday Orhue of RTEAN and Chief Odion Olaye of NURTW, expressed their unequivocal support for Omobayo as the authentic and recognized Deputy Governor of Edo State. “We are here to pass a vote of confidence on Omobayo as the authentic and recognized Deputy Governor of Edo State,” affirmed Chief Olaye, conveying the unions’ confidence in the Deputy Governor’s leadership.
Echoing the views of the unions, Omobayo expressed his appreciation for their overwhelming support since he assumed office, as well as their loyalty to Governor Godwin Obaseki.
